The old, blue ‘Waaltjes’ are reclaimed bricks. They were made in the 1940s when there was experimentation with the production of extruded bricks. While their smooth surface make the floor easy to maintain, the minor differences in size between the bricks gives them the appearance of a hand-mould. The Waaltjes create a magnificent colour range of blue and grey, which is unique to Belgium and their slim size allows them be applied both in rural cottages and in modern dwellings.
